Introducing the beautiful Mammillaria sonoronensis, native to parts of Mexico where it is widespread and common in the mountains. The stem is covered in tubercles which are unique to cacti and is a term used to describe the cone shaped projections. Each tubercle on this plant is adorned with spines. The radial or central spine on each tubercle is black in colour and slightly hooked at the end. This makes the stand out against the short, stiff, white spines that surround them. A wooly growth develops at the base of each tubercles, this growth is called a cephalium. Mammillaria sonoronensis has a clustering growth habit. This plant branches from the base creating many pups that can be used for propagating or left alone to form a large, show stopping clump. To add to the drama this Mammillaria like many others will produce a crown of flowers in spring and summer months, this species flowers are a deep pink shade with dark mid-veins.

☀️This plant requires bright, indirect light but harsh direct sunlight needs to be avoided as this can scorch the leaves.

💧Overwatering can lead to rot, so it's best to allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

〰️These plants don’t have any special requirements when it comes to humidity. Ambient is perfectly fine for these guys.

🌡️Standard room temperatures between 18-24°C are perfect

🍴Use a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).

✂️This plant can be propagated by offsets. Simply remove the offsets, let them callus and then nestle the base into a well draining potting mix. Avoid watering until the plants have put out some roots.

🪴Repot every 2-3 years as needed, using a well-draining potting mix formulated for cacti and succulents.

(Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available. You will receive a bare rooted plant similar to the ones in the pictures provided.)
