It’ s described as having a flattened stem with 10 to 15 low rounded ribs. On each rib there are clusters of 5-8 spines emerging from a woolly, fuzzy growth called a cephalium. These spines curve back towards the trunk giving them a flat appearance. To add to the beauty of this plant the spines aren't perfectly straight, instead they have a slight wave adding texture to its appearance. As this plant matures it will produce a number of offsets, these can be used for propagating to left to for a stunning cluster. In summer and autumn Gymnocalycium andreae produces funnel shaped flowers that are a stunning vibrant yellow colour.

☀️This plant requires bright, indirect light but harsh direct sunlight needs to be avoided as this can scorch the leaves.

💧Overwatering can lead to rot, so it's best to allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

〰️These plants don’t have any special requirements when it comes to humidity. Simply remove the offsets or take the cutting of desired length, let them callus and then nestle the base into a well draining potting mix. Avoid watering until the plants have put out some roots. Most propagation for this species is done by seed.

🪴Repot every 2-3 years as needed, using a well-draining potting mix formulated for cacti and succulents.

(Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour, or shape depending on the season.
