A areole is a specialised structure in cacti and succulents from which spines, hair, flowers, etc grow. From these structures small, fine spines emerge. These spines can vary in colour from white, yellow, orange and brown.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eAs this plant matures it will produce a number of offsets, these can be used for propagating to left to for a stunning cluster. Gymnocalycium neuhuberi is heavily collected for the amazing lilac flowers it produces.
